If you’re looking at purchasing a used BodyGem or MedGem indirect calorimeter on Ebay, here’s a few things to keep in mind.
If it says HealtheTech on it, then it is at least 11 years old.
HealtheTech is the name of the company which created the BodyGem and MedGem indirect calorimeters.
Microlife bought the technology 11 years ago, so they are now labeled with Microlife, not HealtheTech.
The BodyGem and MedGem indirect calorimeter are very durable, as long as you take care of them.
With a used device, you never know if it’s been dropped, if someone has touched the sensors behind the flow tube, etc.
The mouthpiece filters for the HealtheTech BodyGem and MedGem indirect calorimeters had the flow tube attached to them.
In the Microlife devices, the flow tube stays in the unit, and the filter simply plugs into it. If you have an old device, you can get a flow tube to accommodate the newer style of filters.
There is no warranty on used devices.
The new Microlife BodyGem and MedGem indirect calorimeters come with a two-year warranty.
If the HealtheTech device measurements seem too high or low, there is no way for us to re-calibrate them.

If you’re looking to start RMR measurements, but can’t afford the regular BodyGem or MedGem System Kits, we offer BodyGem 40 System Kits and MedGem 40 System Kits, for about 1/3rd the price.
They use the same device, but are limited to 40 measurements. They include 40 mouthpiece filters and nose clips.
