An Error 01 appears on the BodyGem or MedGem LCD panel when the device has detected an air leak during the test.
This typically is not a problem with the device.
If the BodyGem or MedGem has an internal issue, it will display a different error.
Make sure that the mouthpiece filter is fully inserted into the BodyGem unit.
Ensure the nose clip is across the nose and sealing off any air from going through the client’s nose.
And make sure that the client’s mouth is sealed completely around the mouthpiece.
Sometimes when the client needs to swallow, they can create an air gap.
An air leak Error 1 can be caused when the flow tube not fully seated.
The mouthpiece filters connect to the flow tube, so when the filter is pulled out after the previous test, it can slide the flowtube out a bit, creating an air gap.
To make sure that it is fully seated:
Pull the flow tube out all of the way and then insert it back in, to see if that corrects the problem.
Hold the device in one hand, and pull on the neck of the flow tube with the other while gently rocking it back and forth, and it will slide out.
Then slide it back in, making sure the top and bottom of the flow tube are completely flush with the BodyGem or MedGem device.
If that doesn’t solve the problem, call Customer Support at 1-800-968-1378, and they can troubleshoot further and if it’s under warranty, they can send out a replacement unit.
