Microlife BodyGem And MedGem Error Code Explanations

This Microlife page provides explanations of error codes that can occur on the  BodyGem and MedGem indirect calorimetry devices.

Error er01

The BodyGem® has detected an air leak during the measurement.  Check the following:

1) Ensure that the flow tube and breathing attachment are firmly attached to the Gem device

2) Ensure that the person’s mouth is sealed completely around the mouthpiece

3) Ensure that the nose clip is firmly on the person’s nose, eliminating any air passing through the nostrils

4) Repeat the measurement

When the mouthpiece filter is pulled out of the device, the flow tube can become unseated which will cause an er01 air leak error.

When the mouthpiece filter is pulled out of the device, the flow tube can become unseated which will cause an er01 air leak error.

.

To reseat the flow tube, hold the device in one hand, and pull on the neck of the flow tube with the other while gently rocking it back and forth, and it will slide out.

Then slide the flow tube back in, making sure the top and bottom of the flow tube are completely flush with the BodyGem or MedGem device.

Error er04

Problem: The BodyGem® has detected an interruption during the measurement, such as coughing or sneezing.

Solution: Give the person time to return to a resting state and then repeat the measurement.

Error er05

Problem: The self-calibration process has not been completed due to detection of an external airflow, such as a vent or fan.

Solution: Complete the calibration process by placing the BodyGem® device on a flat surface away from all other air sources.  If this error continues to be repeated on subsequent calibration attempts, try moving to a different location.

Error er06

Problem: The BodyGem® has detected a pause in breath of greater than 30 seconds.

Solution: The BodyGem® has detected a pause in breath of greater than 30 seconds.  Repeat the measurement and remind the person to breathe normally and not hold his/her breath during the measurement.

Error er07

Problem: The BodyGem® has detected an unusually low rate of oxygen consumption.

Solution: Repeat the measurement and remind the person to breath normally.

Error er08

Problem: The BodyGem® has detected an unusually high rate of oxygen consumption.

Solution:  Review the resting protocol and ensure the client has followed the resting conditions.  Repeat the measurement once you have observed the client relaxed and breathing normally for 10 minutes.

Error c-00

Problem: Unit won’t start a measurement

Solution: The BodyGem® device was originally loaded with a set number of measurements based on your purchase.  The ‘C’ display indicates the remaining number of measurements on your BodyGem® device.  If the numerical value is 00, please contact Microlife Sales to order your replacement device.
